A loan helped me follow my goals and resume my dream of self-employment.

Pedro's story

My name is Pedro, I am 47 years old and I am from the city of Vauco, Puerto Rico. I have a bachelor's degree in business administration with a specialization in marketing from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico who graduated in 1995. For 2000-2001, with the desire to grow and the passion I have for cooking I dedicate myself to take a few courses of culinary arts.

All my life I had aspired to have my own business when I graduated and not having got a job I made the decision to start a business. By 1996 Creaciones Paraiso was born a combined florist coordination and decoration of events. A successful business for many, by 2015 the economy begins to reduce and I decide to make lunches to compensate for the reduction in income. By september 2017, with the passage of hurricane maria, I am obliged to permanently close the business. At that moment I have to reinvent myself and I resume my passion for cooking as the main option as a source of income. A friend owned a pub and had an unused kitchen and to my surprise, he offers me a job as a chef and I accept it. During the subsequent 14 months, I dedicate my passion for my work and the menu that we implement becomes a success, but it was time to move on and resume my goals, which was always working on my own, and I resigned to open my own food truck.
