A loan helped to buy pagnes from the Ivory Coast and Ghana.

Mamounata's story

Mamounata has 5 children who are all in school. She is a merchant, and she has been selling high-quality pagnes, a type of wrap garment, for more than 11 years in a market in the capital.

She is on her 8th loan with microfinance institution Yikri and successfully repaid her first Kiva loan. She is requesting another loan to buy 30 lengths of pagnes from the Ivory Coast and 20 lengths of pagnes from Ghana to satisfy her resellers ahead of the end-of-year holidays. She plans to reinvest some of the profits in her business and save to buy her children's holiday clothing.

Mamounata urges everyone to protect themselves and each other from Covid-19.
