A loan helped to buy fertilizer and other supplies that she will use to improve her banana crop production.

Regina's story

Meet Regina, a first-time borrower. She is a 45-year-old mother living in Maua, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands which favor large-scale grain, dairy, and banana farming. She has been a mixed dairy and crop farmer for the past few years.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is on the front line in combating this pandemic by supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs in this difficult period.

Regina is seeking this loan to buy farming supplies that she will use to improve her banana crop production and make more income to support her family. Support her at this time when the world is focused on combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regina is very grateful for the opportunity and wants to thank to all lenders.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
