Maria Carmen's story

María has been an active member of the Chochapamba communal bank for the past 2 years, in which she has formed good relationships with all of her friends and co-members. She lives in the community of San Miguel, which belongs to the parish of Valle. This parish is known for its agricultural productivity, which supplies its population. Its people are also involved in cattle farming. Many leave for the city in search of a better job, and a large portion of the young generation has migrated to other parts of the world to provide a better future for their families.

María does the household chores in her house and at the same time takes of advantage of the time to raise animals such as chickens and guinea pigs, which she sells in her community.

María is 49 years old, married, and in her marriage has conceived 3 children, two of which are married and now live independently and their youngest son is single. María works and helps the household economy. Her husband is a builder, a job which has helped him to get ahead with his family. Thanks to her husband’s work, they have been able to build their own house. She is going to invest the new loan in the purchase of chickens to continue growing her business and to get ahead.
