A loan helped to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Carolyne's story

Carolyne (a repeat borrower) is an intelligent woman who has risen to modern methods in the agricultural world. She lives in Eldoret, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. Carolyne has four children under her care. She supports her family through mixed dairy and crop farming.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing thereby guaranteeing their survival.

Carolyne is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family. Support her at this time when the world is focused on combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
