A loan helped to buy farming inputs to improve her farm production, thus supporting her family during the current health crisis.

Susan's story

Susan, aged 35, resides in a town called Molo. Through farming, she has made tremendous progress.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya, like Susan's farm, is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support Kenyan smallholder farmers through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Susan is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs to improve her farm production, thus supporting her family during the current health crisis.

She hopes that all Kiva lenders are adhering to the safety measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
