A loan of $450 helped to buy Yanbal cosmetics and chickens.

Ana Ricarda's story

Sra. Ana Álvarez is in her third loan cycle with the Foundation. Both her business and her home have benefitted from previous loans. Ana lives in Santa Ana which is located 14 km from the city of Cuenca. According to the local people, a mystical event happened many years ago when the virgin St. Ana appeared. It is in her honour that the parish bears the name Santa Ana.

Ana has worked in an upholstery workshop for ten years. In her free time she also sells Yanbal cosmetics. Ana is 50 years old and a member of the Santa Ana community bank. She is married and has five children aged 29, 25, 23, 12, and 10. Her oldest two children are married and are no longer dependent on her. Her third son works in a furniture-making factory and lives in Cuenca. He only visits at weekends. The last two children are high school and primary school students. Ana’s husband works as a security guard. Through working hard for several years they have managed to build their own home.

With this new loan Ana is going to buy more Yanbal products and also some chickens. Her goal is to finish her house as it still lacks many things.
