A loan of $425 helped a member to buy more hair products.

Help Your Friends Group's story

Selena J., who is holding the sign, is the leader of a group of five borrowers called Help Your Friends. She is 35 years old, single and has four children who range from 2 to 16 years old. She was only able to attend school through 12th grade due to financial difficulties. She cares for two siblings.

For 16 years, she has been operating a beauty salon on Ashmun Street in downtown Monrovia, Liberia. She says that customers are attracted to her business because she talks to them in a friendly manner.

She plans to use her 6,000 Liberian dollar portion of this 30,000 Liberian dollar group loan to buy more hair products.

Her hope is to improve her business and take good care of her children so that they can have a better future.
