A loan helped to expand and boost her mobile money business.

Precious's story

Precious is a 29-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her two children in the Isoka district in Zambia. Precious owns a mobile money business. With her first Kiva loan, she re-stocked her inventory to subsequently increase her sales. She used the profit she earned to help her family meet their basic needs.

Precious is requesting a second loan in order to expand and boost her mobile money business. She plans to use the profit she earns to buy food for her family and pay her children’s and sibling’s school fees.

Precious will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating sessions from CAMFED’s My Better World Program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build children’s self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school. She will also conduct home visits to learners at risk of dropping out of school and connect them with the support they need to stay in school.

This loan is special because:

It helps borrowers withstand negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
