Toem's story

Toem, aged 56, is an experienced construction worker from a rural village of Kiri Vong district, Takeo province. He has been doing the construction business for more than three years and also works as a paid laborer for additional income. He has a common-law relationship with his wife, who is a loving mother of four children.

His wife is enhancing the family's income by having the occupation of cultivation of rice crops and other agriculture products seasonally. Every day, his wife plants and supplies enough seeds and fertilizers to rice crops and other agriculture crops by spending more than eight hours each day at the farmlands. The farming business is the main source of his family's economics.

With his hard effort, Toem can earn approximately USD 8 per day, which will have to cover expenses for daily meals, clothes, medicine, and for other necessary needs.

Because of the shortage of finances, he has applied for a loan in the amount of KHR 8,000,000 to pay for construction to renovate his old house. With this loan support, he will have money to purchase construction supplies such as bricks, zinc and cement, and pay for laborers.

This renovation is very important for his family members to protect them and so that they can live with a comfortable living standard and good environment. It also can protect his family members from the crisis of climate change, such as rain.

He sends thanks to all lenders who have contributed their funds to help a poor fellow like him.
