A loan of $550 helped buy products to stock her store and hire workers to clear her coffee fields.

Marilinda's story

Marilinda is 31 years old. She is married to Emilio, 46, and they have 4 children. This noble family lives in their own house, located in a central area of La Merced.

Marilinda really wanted to help earn more money for the household, so for five months she has sold sweets, cookies, candies, soft drinks, foodstuffs and basic necessities, while her husband works as a nursing technician. On the weekends, they both go to work in the countrysiD., where they have coffee and plantain fields. All these activities are very profitable, since they permit Marilinda and Emilio to have a comfortable, worry-free life. Besides this, thanks to their jobs they bought farmland where they grow their crops very productively. For Marilinda, it is no problem to wake up very early everyday because she is sure that every sacrifice has its reward. Her goal now is to increase her production. She also wants to build rooms onto her house to rent them out and earn more income.

This is Marilinda's third loan with MFP, and she is very enthusiastic because she knows she can continue to share good times with her group, since she likes to work with the members of her communal bank. With the credit she is requesting, she will buy some food items that she needs in her grocery store, as well as hiring workers to clear her coffee fields.
