A loan of $1,000 helped purchase of organic fertilizer.

Luis's story

Mr. Luis Avilés López is 30-years-old and has lived with Ms. Costa Corrales Peña for more than 8 years. He has two dependent children who are currently in school. Mr. Avilés López grows potatoes, broad beans, and root vegetables. He sells them at the weekly food market in Colomi. His wife helps him with the farming in addition to maintaining the house and taking care of the animals.

Mr. Avilés López lives in the north of Colomi, Segunda Candelaria, in the rural township of Jatun Rumy. He is taking out the loan from CIDRE and he will use it to buy organic fertilizer (chicken manure) to enlarge his agricultural production.

Mr. Avilés López tells us that his dream is to continue improving his economic resources so that his children can continue studying and become professionals. He'd also like to improve his quality of life to live more comfortably with his family. And, finally, he tells us that he will plant his crops on more productive areas because they are the primary component of a family's basic expenses in Bolivia as well as being an economic resource in maintaining the security and health of his family.
