Luz De Madre 5 Group's story

Ramona is the coordinator of her group, Luz de Madre (Light of the Mother), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients generally (many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti). Her group is located in Los Alcarrizos, a dusty industrial area north of the capital, where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-term partner and their three children.

Ramona is excited to be taking her second loan with Kiva partner, Esperanza, after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling hair products by purchasing more shampoo, rinse and conditioner to sell. She will use the profits to invest in inverters for her house (large batteries that charge when the power is on to counteract frequent blackouts). She thanks you all for your support.

In this group: Ramona, Aracelis, Clara , Yudelka, Bianka
