A loan of $2,350 helped a member to buy clothes, shoes, and perfumes for a small store.

Esmirna (G1,3) Group's story

Olga is the coordinator of her group Esmirna. Her story is representative of her group and generally of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients, many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti. Her group is located in La Romana, a rural area of the country dedicated to the sugar cane harvest, where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She and her husband make their home here in a simple structure.

Olga is excited to be taking her fifth loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loans and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling clothes and various other items. She intends to buy shoes, perfumes, and other products to sell. She will use the profits to make improvements to her house and will invest in the well-being of her family. She thanks you all for your support.

In this group: Olga, Betty, Maribel, Reyna, Josefina, Dominga, Sixta, Yolanda, Olga, Geraldo
