Dauda's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! Dauda is a 44-year-old client from the Waterloo branch. He is married and has four children between the ages of 10 and 20, all of whom are in school. Dauda started his business in order to support his family.

He has a retail business where he sells foodstuffs such as rice, Maggi seasonings, pepper, oil, palm oil, and other assorted products. Dauda has been in this business for the past 20 years. His family’s other source of income is derived from his wife’s business. His main challenge is dealing with occasional slow sales as a result of COVID-19.

Dauda requested a loan from BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase foodstuffs such as rice, pepper, Maggi seasonings, onions, fish, oil, palm oil, groundnuts, and other assorted products to increase his business. He says that the extra income that results from this loan will help to improve his business and provide for his family’s welfare.

In the future, he would like to establish his business on a larger scale. Dauda expresses his thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
