A loan helped a member to purchase fabric strap to make guaipes (rags) and egg cartons to sell.

Genesis Group's story

Maria Julia, the leader of the Genesis group, lives with her husband who is already a senior citizen with hearing problems. Her 5 children live with her and also does her grandchildren.

Maria Julia has been buying scraps of cotton fabrics with which she makes guaipes for more than 25 years. She also sells eggs wholesale to have a better economic income since her husband does not work and she supports him with household expenses. Her children also contribute to the home.

Maria Julia applies for a loan to be able to buy more pieces of cotton fabrics, mainly white, to make guaipes, because they sell at a better price, unlike the colored guaipes. She she also needs to buy eggs cartons to continue selling. Maria Julia offers her products door to door.

Maria Julia has goals to meet such as building her home formally, and she knows that working is how she will achieve it.

She thanks Kiva for the support they give her.
