Our members belong to the Cusco Virgen D. Guadalupe Community Bank. They live in the city of Cusco and meet the first week of the month in Huanchac district, in Cusco department.

One of our members is Sra. Mercedes. She is 45 years old, separated from her husband, and is now a single mother. She has two sons, one of whom is independent and the other is a student at a local college. Mercedes helps him financially and provides him with moral support. As well as her household duties, she runs a bookstore called Amauta which is located on Avenida D. la Cultura. Two young people help her in the store. Mercedes is asking for a loan to buy stock such as notebooks, pencils, and other school and office supplies.

Other members of the community bank have a variety of jobs: running a guesthouse, handicrafts, selling fodder, taxi service, photocopying service, printing business, electrician. They are grateful for the valuable help provided by the loan and promise to pay it back according to the repayment schedule.

Nuestra socia es la Sra. Mercedes, la socia tiene 45 años D. edad es separada y ahora es madre soltera; tiene 2 hijos, D. los cuales uno D. ellos es independiente y el otro hijo aún estudia en el instituto y ella lo apoya económicamente y moralmente, La socia comparte sus actividades del hogar con la administración D. su librería Amauta; Nuestra socia tiene situada su librería en la Av. D. la cultura y ella contrató 2 jóvenes para que le apoyen en la librería. Nuestra socia solicita el préstamo para comprar mercadería como cuadernos, lápices, y diferentes útiles escolares y D. escritorio en general.
Los otros socios del banco comunal, se dedican a todo tipo D. actividades: atención D. un hostal, manualidades y venta D. pasto, servicio D. taxi, fotocopias, impresiones, técnico electricista.

Los socios agradecen y valoran el apoyo brindado mediante este medio y se comprometen a cumplir con el pago D. sus deudas en el plazo establecido.

Asociación Arariwa is a large non-governmental organization that started offering microcredit in 1994 to improve the quality of life, skills and equity of the population in the rural Cusco region of Peru. Arariwa serves the southern Andean provinces of Peru, and is distinguished by its efforts to reach the very poor, who often live in isolated rural areas. Arariwa fosters village banking, supports savings accounts, promotes access to education, and empowers women entrepreneurs (who make up 78% of its borrowers).

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
