04_Astou Group's story

This group was created in May 2010 and is made up of powerful and dynamic women, who live close to each other in neighboring villages. Their principle activity is business, animal fattening and they maintain a happy relationship.

Astou, standing on the right hand side in the picture, with her hand raised, is the representative of the group. She is 51, married and has eight sons. She has been fattening animals for many years and she has a lot of experience. She works in collaboration with her sons, who buy the animals in a local town.

The loan she is taking will permit her to buy sheep and oxen, which she will fatten and sell at the end of six months. The remainder of the loan will be used to buy animal fodder.

With the profits, she will buy cement which will be used to build a strong house, so as to improve the daily life of her family.
