Rosa's story

Rosa Sánchez has been a member of this communal bank for 3 loan cycles. She was invited by her sister to become part of the communal bank "Mujeres de la Bahía." She lives in the city of Azogues, which is the capital of Cañar province, and is known for its colder climate, which is favorable for the production of fruits and vegetables. Its people are engaged in a variety of activities, such as agriculture, masonry, handicrafts, and others, and many of them have migrated in search of better opportunities for themselves and their families.

Rosa sells clothing for men, women and children. She has been in this line of work for 35 years, and has her own stall in a market in the city. She works each day without rest from 7 in the morning until 6 in the evening.

Rose is 54 years old, married, and has 4 children who are 34, 32, 30 and 26 years of age. Her oldest three children are married, two of them live independently and one married daughter lives in her home and shares the household expenses with her parents. Her youngest son works as a security guard and also helps to support the household. Her husband helps her with the business selling merchandise. With a lot of effort, the couple has managed to build their own home.

With this loan she will buy jackets, pants, blouses, shirts, skirts, dresses, etc. in order to have a sufficient inventory of clothing for her demanding customers.

Her goal is to increase her business with more merchandise.
