San Juan Group's story

Benedicta P. is 46 years old and the president of the San Juan Communal Association which is part of the Centro Focal Panamericana. Benedicta sells vegetables in different markets around the city of El Alto. One of these markets is the Mercado San Felipe. Due to the necessity of paying for family expenses, she has been selling at markets for approximately the past 5 years. Her family consists of 11 people. Benedicta requires the loan in order to acquire merchandise and continue to generate income. She also indicates that she likes the type of work that they have to do at Pro Mujer , especially the savings. In addition, she regularly visits the consulting office because they treat her so warmly. The women members of this communal association have a variety of businesses, both production-based and service-based. They all require the loan in order to invest in their businesses.
