A loan helped to purchase more drinks to sell.

Hawa's story

Hawa is a 35-year-old woman from Liberia. She lives with her partner and four children who are in school. Her partner works as a driver to earn extra income. Hawa has a business of selling drinks. She started this business so that she could be financially strong enough to support her family at home. Her mother taught her this trade. Hawa has been in business for 12 years and uses a car or bike to transport supplies to her business site. She enjoys selling because she is able to earn a profit.

Hawa is requesting a loan from BRAC Liberia to purchase more drinks to sell to her good customers. In the future, she would like to improve her business and build a house. She wishes to express her thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
