A loan of $1,000 helped to buy fertilizers and other products for agriculture.

Pola Marqueza's story

Pola Marqueza B. V., 56, is married and lives with her husband in the canton of San Miguel in Bolívar province. She has a daughter, Doris, who is 34 years old.

Pola is a member of the communal bank "Lotan Bajo," which is located 30 minutes from the town of San Miguel. There are 13 members in all, and the majority of them work in agriculture.

Pola works in agriculture to provide a source of income for her family. She cultivates corn and beans. In the house, Pola also does sewing work. She sells her products and also makes her purchases in the San Miguel market.

Pola requests a loan to buy fertilizers and other products for agriculture. She thinks that this loan will help her to improve the economic situation of her family. Her goal is to improve their house, and to buy seed that is certified for better production so that she can get better prices for her products. The challenges she faces are the lack of money to buy supplies and a lack of labor.

Pola says that the customs of her canton are the fiestas of Patrón San Miguel and their carnivals. As a hobby, she likes to play basketball.
