Luis's story

Luis is a 29-year old micro-entrepreneur who lives in Barranquilla with his family. He has had an incorporated business for the last two years. His main operations include plumbing, heating and air-conditioning installation.

Luis started his business after working for ten years as a public works contractor. He started out with little capital and formalized his business through maintaining a system of bathroom fixtures with the help of a friend. He carved out his success by offering quality, punctual service. Thanks to his tenacity and determination, he now has two regular employees and generates more than five indirect employees.

Luis's business was affected by the pandemic. He had to close for months, but his expenses and fixed costs increased. However, this entrepreneur found new business opportunities making face masks, much in demand in this pandemic, and generated a good profit.

Because of increased demand, Luis needs to increase his inventory in order to mitigate the impact of Covid 19. He is currently applying for a Kiva loan, his first financing through Fundación Santo Domingo, so he can invest in paying supplier's invoices and in purchasing supplies like acrylics, polyethylene and solid polycarbonates.

This entrepreneur needs an injection of capital to strengthen his business plan and improve his quality of life. Support him in his loan request.
