A loan of $300 helps to buy farm inputs to improve her farm's production.

Susan's story

Susan is a 45-year-old mother of four children living in Nakuru, a town in the highlands of Kenya that lies 1850 meters above sea level. It is a region with temperate climates that favor coffee, wheat, barley, maize, beans and potato farming. Susan has been a farmer for the past twenty years and has found it has made her life meaningful.

Susan is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs that she plans to use to improve production and increase her income to support her family. She believes and is thankful that Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request. Thanks to lenders’ determination and commitment to make the world a better place, Susan’s life will be completely changed.

Juhudi Kilimo’s partnership with Kiva is effective in reducing poverty in Kenya especially among women, who are the central actors in rural areas.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
