A loan helped to buy a water tank that she will use to store water for irrigation on her farm.

Sarah's story

Meet Sarah, a 60-year-old mother of one child living in Kapsowar, a town that hosts a number of elite athletes in Kenya. She is a repeat Kiva borrower who has successfully repaid all her Kiva loans.

The Covid-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is at the forefront of combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs during this difficult period.

Sarah is seeking this loan to buy a water tank that she will use to store water for irrigation on her farm. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that has been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
