Cayetano Group's story

This group consists of three hardworking and enterprising women from the neighborhood of Las Torres in Masaya, Nicaragua. The group's coordinator is Carmen A., who sells fruits and vegetables at Masaya's market. She has been involved in this business since she was small, working with her mother, but has been independent for the last four years.

She also sells drinks and other products out of her home, with the help of her children. A. will buy beans, corn, rice, and potatoes, among other things.

The other members of the group are Mayra Molinares F., who has had a small general store for the last four years, and Paula T., who for the last three years has earned a living making tortillas, a favorite staple of Nicaraguans.
