A loan of $1,000 helps to buy rice seeds and fertilizer to support her farming business.

Vandy's story

Vandy is 53 years old, married and the mother of 2 children. She has been a farmer for five years. Her husband is a construction worker.

Vandy’s main challenge is the fluctuation in the price of rice. She has applied for a 4,000,000 KHR loan through Kiva's field partner Chamroeun to buy rice seeds and fertilizer to support her farming business. Using the loan, she will be able to earn more income to continue her business as well as support her family's standard of living.

In the future, Vandy hopes that she can grow her business and renovate her home.

This loan is special because:

It allows farmers to repay when they receive harvest income and gives them access to training.
