A loan helped to purchase dairy cows in order to increase her milk sales to a local plant.

Salamat's story

Salamat is 34 years old. She is married and has three children. College-educated, she has been raising livestock and growing crops since 2014, and this is her family's main source of income. Thanks to her hard work, Salamat's farm presently consists of six cows, 50 sheep, five horses, and a 2.4-hectare plot of land on which she grows alfalfa. She has a contract to deliver organic milk to a local plant, where it is processed into dairy products. This permits her to put money back into her business on an ongoing basis.

After learning that she could obtain a loan from Bai Tushum Bank using the contract for future deliveries as collateral under a Value-Added Chain arrangement, Salamat has applied for a loan of 200,000 som (KGS) to buy dairy cows. Her goal in this is to increase her organic milk sales. The dairy plant's payment for the milk will be deposited directly into Salamat's bank account, and the loan payments will be automatically deducted. The income generated by this loan will allow Salamat to develop her farm going forward and finish building a house.
