A loan of $675 helped buying flowers (roses, carnations, daisies, chrysanthemums, etc.).

Mariuxi Agustina's story

Mariuxi is a young mother, age 20, with a daughter who is just a year and a half old. She and her husband have a beautiful relationship. She has been in the "Av. del Ejercito" ("Army Avenue") communal bank for two loan cycles.

Mariuxi and her husband have a business selling flowers in the central market area of the city of Portoviejo. They started the business one year ago; it has gone very well for them, and Mariuxi is very happy. With the loans she has received from the Foundation, she has expanded her shop, and now it is well-stocked. Each week, she invests $200 in flowers, which are delivered to her directly from the mountainous part of the country. She works in her shop from Monday through Sunday, and she also maintains another flower stand outside her town's main cemetery. On that day, her husband is the one who travels there, working from 7 in the morning until he closes the stand in the evening.

Mariuxi tells us that she sells more flowers on special dates such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. She will invest all of the funds in stocking her flower shop.
