A loan of $1,100 helped purchase soap and sugar in bulk.

Bella Aurora's story

Bella is 60 years old, married, and has five children. She has worked ten years as a cook at a boarding house, where she heads up the kitchen. Bella also operates a small grocery store out of her home in the city of Nuevo Paraíso in Nuevo Colon Parish. She is from Chone, but has been living in Portoviejo for the past 30 years and owns a home there. Her husband performs various jobs at her sister’s boarding house and is doing very well. She will buy soap and sugar in bulk.

Bella has six grandchildren and all the money she earns goes toward helping them. One of her children moved to Spain and has never returned. She also sells school supplies and maintains the swimming pools at her sister’s business, since it is a recreational boarding house.

She wants to remain devoted to her family for the rest of her life.
