Henry Alberto's story

Henry Alberto is a 48-year-old micro-entrepreneur, the resident of the city of Barranquilla. He lives with his spouse.

He owns a business fabricating and repairing women’s, men’s, and children’s footwear. He has more than 10 years of experience in this work. His business was born from the need to generate an income to provide for his family and maintain a better lifestyle. His main customers are neighbors, friends, and small business owners from the city.

Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred worldwide, his work level deteriorated due to biosafety issues and his income drastically reduced. His short-term goals are to get his business off the ground in the face of the difficult situation from Covid-19, to have a stock of supplies for the reactivation of his business, and to not have to close his activity since he is the only one who is providing the family income.

Currently, he is managing his first Kiva loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo with the objective of investing in the purchase of leather, synthetic leather, and thread.
