A loan of $1,200 helped purchase tree trunks to turn into lumber.

Damian's story

Sr. Damián is 40 years old and married to Sra. Reyna. They have three children (ages 10, 8, and 2), of whom two are attending elementary school. His family has limited financial resources.

Sr. Damián lives in the community of Esmeralda Norte in the city of Cochabamba. He has a small house that is still in the middle of construction. Only two of the bedrooms are occupied. His parents stay in one room while his three children occupy the other, which makes conditions very uncomfortable for everyone.

Sr. Damián operates a small sawmill out of his home where he sells all types of wood to carpenters in the area for making furniture. This loan will be used to buy tree trunks. He has all the required permits and authorizations from the ABT (the local forestry and land management authority) and the necessary equipment for sawing wood that he can sell during the rainy season.

One of his dreams is to open a furniture store so that he can have his own small business. Most importantly, his short-term goal is to finish the construction of the bedrooms for each of his children so that they will be more comfortable.
