A loan of $1,500 helps to buy livestock during Covid-19 pandemic.

Othniel's story

Othniel is a young and industrious man from rural Panama. Apart from being the plumber in his community, he also is dedicated to agriculture. His main crops are plantain and cocoyam and recently he started raising pigs and cattle as well.

Othniel has worked in these activities for over 3 years. Thanks to his hard work, he’s recently bought his first house, has provided for his family, and provided education to his children.

Recently, Othniel bought some land and is asking for his first Kiva loan to invest in his cattle-raising venture. He will buy young cattle, raise them, and sell them later at a profit.

He has really good references and is known for being a young role model for the youth in his community.

Thanks for joining Global Brigades and Kiva to provide financial inclusion in historically excluded rural communities of Panama.

This loan is special because:

It helps unbanked communities in rural areas gain access to financial services.
