Catherine's story

Catherine, 43-year-old mother of one child, is a determined woman who has only one thought in her mind: to prosper. She is a farmer from Matuu, an area with hilly scenery that is good for camping and hiking. She rears dairy cows and grows crops. In addition she does daily household chores, such as cooking, collecting water and caring for children. Through these farm activities, she has been able to send three of her children to school.

Catherine practices agriculture, employing youthful energy, hard work and knowledge from the many agricultural training seminars she has had with Juhudi Kilimo. Using this loan to buy farm inputs (high-quality seeds and good fertilizer) that will improve her crops. Modern farming requires the use of modern techniques. Therefore, using high-quality seeds will assure her of a bumper harvest and increased profit levels. Catherine is very visionary. Her goal for the season is to boost her crop production over the previous year, and also build a modern house. All of this can be achieved through lenders’ help and goodwill.
