A loan of $200 helped buy bread wholesale.

Virginie's story

Born in 1975 in Tori Bossito, in the Atlantique Province, A. Virginie has been living for about 15 years in Akpakpa-Dodomè, a district of Cotonou, economic capital of Bénin. Virginie is married to SEWANOU Raymond, a chauffeur. The couple are raising four children, of whom only one is their biological child. All the children are enrolled in school. The family lives together and the couple share in supporting the family.

To help her husband cover household expenses, Virginie sells bread at their home and also in front of a primary school in Cotonou. Virginie gets her supplies in the bakeries of Cotonou. Secondarily, she also sells charcoal out of her home. She has been in these businesses for 13 years. She is a long-time client of ALIDé, having received four loans, all of which have been correctly reimbursed. Wishing to increase her working capital and expand her businesses, Virginie is requesting a fifth loan from ALIDé.
