A loan of $550 helped to buy manure and fertilizers for her fields.

Julia's story

Julia, 40, is a hard-working, loving single mother who lives in her own home with her four beloved children; her greatest wish is to improve their quality of life. She spent most of her life in the small town of Paucarmarca learning and doing farming, this was the family occupation. Now, she grows corn, potatoes and peas, an occupation that provides for the support of herself and her family. Everything she harvests she sells in Tarma’s wholesale market which is where the best prices are to be had. What she likes most about her work is planting which she does with much care. She has been in this line of work for 20 years and considers the most difficult part of it to be transporting her product to market because transportation services in her area are scarce. In time, she’d like to buy more land to increase production. This is her 5th loan with MFP; she’s been very punctual with her repayments and expects to continue to be so. She is very active in her communal group and held in high esteem by her fellow members. She will use the requested 1500 new soles to buy more manure and fertilizers for her fields.
