A loan of $3,075 helped a member to buy a hairdresser's chair.

La Alegria Group's story

The Alegria (Happiness) group was formed more than two years ago by several women. They joined together to support one another. They met while working at their various jobs. Each group member is hopeful about improving the quality of her life especially in the areas of housing and nutrition. One of them is Sra. Avelina who is a hairdresser. She runs a salon in her home. As a young woman, she took a hairdressing course and now has many clients. She is very happy with what she does since it allows her to support her family and most importantly, provide them with food. Avelina now wants to improve the service she offers by buying a more comfortable hairdresser’s chair which can be used for hair washing and other hair treatments. She is asking for a loan to buy such a chair. She is grateful to Kiva partner Fundación Paraguaya for this opportunity.
