A loan helped to buy farming inputs such as certified quality seeds and fertilizer, to improve her horticulture farming.

Rosemary's story

Rosemary is a single mother of two children who has experienced failure on a massive scale but she never gives up. The results of her determination are the smiling faces of her children when they wake up early every day to go to school. Through experience based on curiosity and her natural abilities, Rosemary has emerged as one of the most respected goat and crop farmers in her village.

Although she makes a profit from farming, Rosemary's standard of living is not comfortable. She has always wanted to increase her income by buying quality seeds and other farm inputs. She has requested this loan in order to make these investments and improve her horticulture farming. Kenya's Kerugoya area, one of the country's most populated regions, has a high demand for food. This means that Rosemary could increase her profits by meeting the existing demand for horticulture products.

Rosemary is grateful that Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva lenders to help hardworking and honest women farmers like herself turn their farming dreams into reality through training and loan financing. She is confident that this loan will help her, and that she will be able to improve her standard of living through satisfying local demand for horticulture products.

Rosemary is a special person and is grateful for the help and support of her Kiva lenders.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
