A loan helped to buy more rice, spray, oil, soap and other essential items to resell.

Hannah's story

Hannah is 37 years old. She is married and has four children, three of whom are in school and all live at home.

Hannah is a strong businesswoman who sells rice, spray, oil, soap and other essential items. Her mother taught her how to sell and she started the business with some earnings from her husband. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. Hannah works 10 hours at her business, Monday through Saturday. She is unable to operate normally as a result of the crisis.

To continue her business, she applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Field Partner. With this loan, she will buy more rice, spray, oil, soap and other essential items to resell to her good clients. In the future, she wants to build a shop and a house. She is highly grateful for the financial support rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
