A loan of $1,300 helps to buy pandanus for her weaving and also hire three women to help her with her weaving.

Fifita's story

Greetings from Fifita. She is 60 years old, and she is a single mother of four grown ups. She lives with her children at their home in the island of Vava'u. Fifita is proud to present the work of her hand in her photo. She is a weaver, and she raised her children with her weaving only.

Fifita weaves only taovala of many different types, design and size. The price for each taovala depends on its size and design. She sell out her weaving to some relatives overseas and also to local people who are interested in her weaving. One of her customer from overseas orders four taovala, and Fifita decided to apply for a loan to buy pandanus and also hire three other women to help her in finishing her ordered taovala from overseas. She wanted her children to experience life in different ways from her by educating them to achieve goodness in life.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
