A loan of $425 helped buy products to resell.

Jose's story

Jose, 78, lives with his wife, Yolanda, 64. They have no children and live together in the house that they own. For 16 years, along with Yolanda, Jose has made a living selling grocery products. The business is located in one of the markets in their neighborhood. The work is fairly easy because the experience of so many years has taught them what their customers want and what products they have to stock to satisfy demand. Unfortunately, they can't stock all of their products at the market because thieves sometimes break in there at night and steal whatever they find. Consequently, they keep most of their products at their house and only leave at the business what they have to. They hope to improve the security of their market stall in the future, as well as improve the incomes they pull from the business. This is Jose's second MFP loan and he is committed to repaying it on time so that his community group doesn't suffer a default. He plans to use the loan to buy larger supplies of products so that he can increase his sales.
