A loan of $775 helped buy piglets, pig feed, and coffee.

Pauline's story

Pauline N. is a widow who has eight children to look after, five of whom are still in school. Unable to meet the material needs of her children, she sought assistance from GHAPE when she joined the program in 2004. Her dedication to the program is unquestionable and her hard work has had untold results on her family's situation.

With her new loan, she plans to repair her pig sty, buy more three more piglets, pig feed and coffee from neighboring villages. There are a lot of small-scale coffee farmers in neighboring villages whose products are too small to attract coffee-processing firms. She plans to go to them, buy the coffee from several farmers, and resell to the coffee cooperative society in Mbengwi, which serves as a collection centre for coffee processing firms. The profit she gets from the loans will be used to educate her children and provide food for her family.
