Felismina's story

Felismina A. M. was born in Catembe Municipal District, Maputo Province in southern Mozambique. She is 42 years old, married, and has five children, ages 25, 23, 20, 9 and 4. Three of the children go to school. Felismina only finished third grade and did not continue because of her parents' financial difficulties. She lives in her own house with her family and also supports a niece who lives with her.

She left Catembe to move to Maputo City when she got married. Felismina has run her own business from her yard for more than 10 years. She has no employees and earns about 6,000 meticais per month, which she uses for household expenses. She also saves some money in her bank account.

Felismina has never had loans from other banks. She learned about Hluvuku through friends who are also customers of this institution. This is her second loan, and she is asking for 23,000 meticais. She intends to buy construction materials (cement, sand, blocks, stone and other items) to continue building her house.

She promises to pay off this loan on time so she can have more loans. One of Felismina's dreams is to have an official wedding ceremony. In the future she intends to ask for more loans to develop her business.
