A loan helped a member to purchase cosmetics and secondhand clothing.

Los Canticos Group's story

Silvinmar, 40, is a single mother of three children and has earned a living for five years selling cosmetics. She began her business one day when she was invited to a conference held by a cosmetics distributor company, as she was looking for a way to generate income without neglecting her family. She joined with the minimum startup cost and after four years of experience she has her clientele.

With her previous loan, she was able to diversify her business. She now sells secondhand clothing and also benefited from a lower interest rate which allowed her to gain access to more products. Her next goal is to invest in her business so that in the future she can open a clothing and cosmetics store.

She is applying for a Kiva loan through FUNDENUSE to invest in the purchase of cosmetics and clothing.

Silvinmar belongs to the Los Cánticos communal bank which includes Amanda, who who makes and sells tortillas and ground coffee, and Yadira, who also works in catalog cosmetic sales. The group is in its sixth loan cycle through FUNDENUSE, demonstrating their skills and capacity to work with the given capital, and in their third loan cycle with Kiva funds.
