Esther's story

Esther is a 47-year-old mother of two children living in Nyahururu, an area endowed with natural beauty. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past ten years. Through farming, she is able to meet the basic needs of her family.

COVID-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat on the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo in partnership with Kiva are in the front line in combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs at this difficult period.

Esther is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs which she plans to use to improve her production and generate more income to support her family. She is hopeful that Kiva lenders are going to respond positively to her loan request.
