A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving and also to pay for her son's school fees.

'Elitisi's story

This is 'Elitisi. She is 44 years old and married with five children. She is currently running a weaving business, where she is the sole weaver. Her reason for weaving on her own and not in group is because that way she is her own boss and she can weave at her own home and also finish up other chores. 'Elitisi weaves specifically taovala and mats, then sells them at the local market and also overseas. She is a good weaver and also weaves her children's own taovala. Her business was affected by the COVID-19 restrictions, when markets were closed down and she could hardly manage to get pandanus. Now that the market is opening up again, pandanus are being sold, but prices are very high. Therefore 'Elitisi is applying for a loan to buy efficient pandanus for her weaving and also to pay for her son's school fees, so he can sit for the exam. Her dream is to educate her children, so that they can get a better life in the future and to provide for themselves.
