A loan helped to buy more dried fish to sell.

Felecia's story

This is 42-year-old Felecia from the region of Monrovia. She is a single mother with 2 kids, aged 22 and 25 years. One of her children is still schooling and both live at home.

Felecia runs a food market selling dried fish. Her friend taught her how to sell and Felecia has been managing her business for 20 years now. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. She requires a loan through BRAC Liberia, Kiva's field partner, in order to buy more dried fish to sell to her good clients.

She likes her business because it gives her money each day she sells and she is proud of her business because it makes her an independent woman. Felecia's dreams for the future are to buy land and build herself a house. She wishes to say thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
