A loan of $2,750 helps a member to buy daily consumer products at the wholesale level.

Las Guadalupanas Group's story

Entrepreneurial women are intelligent and seek strategies to have a business that allows them to generate income to live in better conditions of life for themselves and their children. Paula is one of these women. She is 40 years old, lives with her husband and is the mother of two children, ages 12 and 16. Paula works hard to help her husband meet the basic needs of their children, including primary education.

Being one of the lucky few, she received two years of university studies and efficiently manages the businesses of daily consumer products and a laundry. To increase sales and display more products, she rents a store. Paula needs to increase the inventory of the grocery business. She applies to Kiva lenders for a second loan to buy daily consumer products at the wholesale level.

Paula and six other women make up the Community Bank of Puente de Amistad (Friendship Bridge) Las Guadalupanas Group in the Department / State of Quetzaltenango. These women are getting ahead thanks to small convenience food businesses, selling chicken by the pound, and corn tortilla shops. In Paula's words: "By having access to the loan, I also learn about managing money and have access to free health services." These are the benefits of Puente de Amistad's “Microcredit Plus” program.

Infused with capital from Kiva's lenders, visionary women move forward in their businesses, hoping for a prosperous future. Thank you!
