Elcedita's story

Elcedita L., from the village of Palutan, is a 39-year-old married mother of four school-aged children. To make a living, Elcedita plants and harvests corn for sale. Engaged in her business for over 20 years, she earns approximately 50000 PHP per harvest.

In 2009, Elcedita joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Having repaid her previous loan of 15000 PHP from ASKI that was used to purchase additional seeds, seedlings and young crops to raise, she is requesting a new loan, her third, of 20000 PHP to be used for the same purpose. Elcedita plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her enterprise.

About ASKI:

ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 29 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolk and small entrepreneurs.
