Mano Group's story

Pictured here are members of the “Mano” group. They are small-scale businesspeople based in Makeni city, in northern Sierra Leone. They are seeking a loan of SLL 1,200,000 for each to enable them to further expand their businesses. Consequently, they will make more profit and improve their standard of living.

The leader of this group is Dura S. (pictured left). Dura is age 50 and he was born in Makeni. He is married with 3 children. His wife is a businesswoman and his children are attending both primary and secondary schools. For many years now, Dura has been selling market food – beans and ground-nuts/peanuts. With this loan, he will expand his business by buying bags of beans and groundnuts to add to his current stock.
